The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced the successful completion of Phase Two of the government’s Transformer Replacement and Upgrade Programme at the Lashibi Primary Substation ahead of schedule.
In a statement issued on April 16, 2026, ECG said the project, initially expected to be completed on April 17, was finished earlier due to the round-the-clock efforts of its technical teams.
The company confirmed that the installation and testing of new equipment have been completed, leading to the full restoration of power supply to affected areas sooner than anticipated.
ECG also indicated that preparations are underway for the next phase of transformer upgrades, with details on locations and timelines to be announced soon.
The initiative forms part of a broader government agenda to strengthen the national power system by replacing ageing transformers, reducing system overloads, and minimising frequent outages.
The company expressed appreciation to residents of Lashibi and surrounding communities for their patience during the brief outages and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable electricity across the country.
