Two persons have sustained serious injuries, with one in critical condition, following a wall collapse at Wawasi in the Obuasi East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The victims, a man and a woman, were reportedly sitting in front of a house when the structure suddenly gave way between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Thursday.
An eyewitness, Joseph Appiah, said the victims were immediately rushed to the AGA Health Foundation for treatment. Due to the severity of the injuries, one of them was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for specialised care, while the other remains in stable condition at the AGA Hospital.
A relative of the victims, Yaa Kunadu, who was selling food nearby at the time, confirmed that the victims were not engaged in any activity when the incident occurred.
The family has since appealed to government and relevant authorities to intervene, calling for the removal of a telecommunications mast mounted on the building.
They expressed fears that the structure, believed to belong to Globacom, poses a continued risk to residents and may have contributed to the collapse.
