A 25-year-old woman, Gueenata Yeho, is battling severe trauma after surviving a brutal night attack that claimed the lives of her mother and younger sister in March 2026 at Nkwanta.

Speaking to Adom News, Gueenata recounted that the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. while the family was asleep.

She said she heard unusual footsteps at the entrance, prompting her mother to quietly signal danger by tapping her hand.

Moments later, unidentified assailants forced their way into the room, poured petrol on them, and launched a violent cutlass attack before setting the house ablaze.

Gueenata sustained injuries during the assault but managed to escape through the flames.

Her mother and younger sister, however, did not survive.

Describing the ordeal as both terrifying and heartbreaking, she said the experience continues to haunt her, disrupting her sleep and appetite as she struggles to cope with the loss.

She added that although she used to visit Nkwanta frequently because of her mother, she now finds it difficult to return following the tragedy.

“They burnt my mother and my younger sister. We have lost everything. My father is already dead, and now my mother is gone,” she lamented.

Gueenata has appealed to the government, benevolent organisations and philanthropists for support to enable her continue her education, saying she has been left without immediate family support.
