Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has expressed his determination for victory as the Black Stars prepare to face Austria in an international friendly on Friday.
The West Africans will take on the European side at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna as part of their build-up to the upcoming World Cup.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Semenyo highlighted the team’s ambition to make a strong statement.
“Hopefully, [I’m] expecting a win. We want to make a statement: we are preparing for the World Cup, so hopefully a win,” the 26-year-old said.
Kick-off is scheduled for 17:00 GMT.
Following the clash with Austria, the Black Stars will travel to Germany for another friendly against the four-time world champions on Monday, March 30, in Stuttgart.
Ghana will be aiming to turn recent World Cup disappointments into a renewed push this year. The Black Stars exited at the group stage in both the 2014 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and will be eager to make a stronger impact at the next edition, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
