Kofi Okyere Darko has marked one year in office as Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office, describing the period as one defined by service, learning, and strengthening Ghana’s relationship with its global diaspora community.
In a statement commemorating the milestone, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the office and contribute to national development by deepening engagement between Ghana and its citizens living abroad.
He acknowledged the leadership of the Presidency of Ghana for their continued support, noting that their guidance has enabled the office to advance its mandate with clarity and purpose.
Darko also extended appreciation to government institutions, development partners, and non-governmental organisations for their collaboration, which he said has been instrumental in strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities for Ghanaians both at home and overseas.
Looking ahead, he announced plans to commission an expansion of the Diaspora Affairs Office next week, aimed at improving operational efficiency, boosting staff productivity, and creating a more welcoming environment for diaspora engagement.
He described the expansion as a symbol of growth and the office’s commitment to delivering excellence in service while positioning Ghana as a home for all its citizens, regardless of where they reside.
The Diaspora Affairs Office plays a key role in connecting Ghana with its global diaspora, promoting investment, cultural exchange, and national development initiatives. Darko’s appointment one year ago was seen as part of broader efforts to leverage diaspora engagement as a strategic pillar of Ghana’s development agenda.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening these connections, emphasizing that building Ghana requires collective effort and shared vision across borders.
