Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has expressed his pride at the prospect of representing Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.

The Black Stars will be making their fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage this summer, drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

Owusu, 28, who also played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, told Flashscore that while he focuses on the day-to-day process, wearing the national colours at the tournament would be a tremendous honour.

“It would be an honour and a big blessing to play the World Cup for my country,” Owusu said. “But I try not to think about it too much. For me, life is about process. I take it day by day… and leave the rest to God,” he added.

As part of their preparations, the Black Stars will regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria and Germany.

Ghana will kick off their 2026 World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and close the group stage with a match against Croatia on June 27.
