The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Lydia Yarkor Donkor, has directed the Headmaster of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS), Justice Kojo Frimpong, to produce within 24 hours the students implicated in the recent violent incident at Agona Swedru.

Addressing a gathering during a visit to the school on February 23, COP Donkor warned that failure to comply would attract consequences.

“If somebody has worn your school uniform to create such a scene or to conduct himself in such a manner, attacking a fellow human being, it is giving your school a bad name. As a school, you should be concerned to find out who did that and hand them over to the police. So, I am giving you twenty-four hours to produce the students who attacked the boys. Your twenty-four hours start now,” she stated.

She explained that although the Police have established procedures for arresting suspects, they were exercising restraint because the matter involves a school.

“As a law enforcement agency, we have options that we use to arrest suspects, but because this is a school environment, we do not want to use one of those means. That is why I am giving you, as school authorities, that task to produce them. And if you fail to produce them, the means by which law enforcement agencies fish out suspects, we are going to adopt them,” she cautioned.

COP Donkor further emphasized that the incident goes beyond student misconduct.

“Because what we are seeing is not acts of indiscipline by students. It is a criminal act which is clearly spelt out in our Criminal Offences Act. I don’t want to storm the school with my men,” she stressed.

Her visit forms part of ongoing investigations by the Ghana Police Service into the violence that disrupted the District Schools Athletics Games held at Agona Swedru in the Central Region on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

The confrontation involved students from Obrachire Senior High Technical School and Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS), escalating quickly into a physical fight.

During the unrest, a student from Obrachire was allegedly attacked by a group believed to be affiliated with SWESBUS. He was reportedly beaten with sticks and pelted with stones before bystanders intervened to bring the situation under control.

Footage circulating on social media shows the confusion at the scene, with a crowd gathered around the injured student in the aftermath of the clash. The student was subsequently taken to a medical facility and is currently receiving treatment.
