A group calling itself the Concerned Media Practitioners has described the 15 per cent vehicle price reduction announced by the Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) as misleading and lacking transparency.

In a statement dated February 19, 2026, and signed by its convener, Michael Boateng (Mike2), the group said that although it welcomed any price reduction, ADUG failed to provide details of previous and current prices to justify the announced 15 per cent cut.

The group argued that without listing the old and new prices of specific vehicles and the exact calculations involved, consumers could not verify the claimed reduction.

Citing examples of commonly used vehicles such as the Toyota Voxy (2010–2013) and Toyota Vitz (2009–2010), which they claim sell for about GH¢150,000–160,000 and GH¢90,000 respectively, the group questioned whether the 15 per cent reduction had been properly applied.

They further alleged that the announcement appears politically motivated and accused the union of attempting to mislead consumers with what they described as empty promises.

The group emphasised that its intervention is not borne out of malice but is aimed at promoting consumer protection and accountability.
