Ghanaian tomato traders caught in terrorist attack in Burkina Faso

The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso

According to a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The truck, which was carrying traders involved in the tomato business, was reportedly affected during the attack, although the exact number of victims and their conditions are yet to be officially confirmed.

The Minister described the development as disturbing and assured the public that the Government of Ghana is actively working to establish the full details surrounding the incident.

He disclosed that Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently engaging Burkinabe authorities and coordinating efforts to visit the scene of the attack.

The purpose of the visit is to gather firsthand information and assist in identifying any Ghanaian nationals who may have been affected.

The government says it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as more verified information becomes available.
