Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana’s highly anticipated World Cup showdown with England will be one of the standout fixtures of the 2026 tournament.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Panama and Croatia for the global showpiece, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer.
Speaking to Manchester City’s media team, Semenyo admitted he is relishing the prospect of facing the Three Lions, describing the encounter as one filled with excitement and anticipation.
“It’s just exciting, just ready for the challenge. As a nation, we are looking forward to it. It’s going to be entertaining, and we are looking forward to it,” Semenyo said.
Semenyo has enjoyed an impressive campaign at club level, finding the net 12 times in the league so far this season. His strong form could continue this weekend when City travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in a league clash on Sunday, February 8.
Ghana will open their 2026 World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, before the much-anticipated meeting with England on June 23. The Black Stars will wrap up their Group L fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
