A brief moment of confusion occurred at the Light Academy polling station in Adenta after police officers enforced access protocols during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

The incident happened as voting commenced on Saturday, January 31, with officers restricting entry to accredited delegates and authorised party officials in line with security guidelines.

Order was quickly restored, and voting continued peacefully at the centre.

The NPP is holding presidential primaries nationwide to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections, with more than 211,000 accredited delegates expected to cast their ballots across the country.

Polling is taking place in all 16 regions, at the party’s national headquarters, and at selected diaspora voting centres, under tight security and strict electoral rules.
