The Abease Traditional Council in the Pru West District of the Bono East Region has donated assorted food items to Abease Senior High School to support the feeding of students.
The donation, presented by the Paramount Chief of Abease and Vice-President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Obrempong Kru Takyi II, included 200 tubers of yam, five gallons of cooking oil, a bag of beans, five bags of rice, tomato paste, and an undisclosed amount of money.
Speaking to the media after the presentation, Obrempong Kru Takyi II explained that Abease SHS was initially established as a community day school during the first term of former President John Dramani Mahama but has now been upgraded to a boarding school.

“Abease SHS started as a community day school, but it has now become a boarding school, and this change has come with a lot of challenges,” he said.
He highlighted that the school is currently facing difficulties with feeding, accommodation for teachers, and water supply, emphasizing that government support alone is not enough.
“Government cannot do everything on its own, so as a Traditional Council, we felt it was important to step in to support the school and the students,” he added.
The Omanhene also appealed to natives of Abease living outside the community to assist the school and urged parents to prioritize the education of their children.
“I am appealing to all natives of Abease, especially those living outside the town, to come to the aid of this school. Parents must also make the education of their children a top priority,” he said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Headmaster Samuel Dornas Mporha expressed gratitude to the Traditional Council.
“This is a very good gesture, and it will go a long way to help address the food challenges the school may face,” he said, adding that other stakeholders should support the development of the institution.

Some students also spoke on the challenges they face, particularly with feeding and basic facilities.
“Our major problem is water. We don’t have enough water in the school, and it is seriously affecting our daily lives,” they said.

They appealed to authorities and stakeholders for urgent intervention to improve conditions at the school.
