The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Mujaheed Suraj, in connection with the shooting of two individuals during the 2024 general elections at Kasoa Zongo.

In a press release on Friday, January 23, 2026, the Police stated that the suspect was apprehended on January 17, 2026, following intelligence-led operations. He is accused of shooting Bukari Inusah, 34, and Tanimu Adamu Tanko, 44, at the Odupon Kpekpehe School Park on December 7, 2024, during voting.

According to the Police, Suraj allegedly fired indiscriminately, damaging a parked pickup vehicle with registration number GT 9550-P and injuring the two victims. The injured were initially treated at Kasoa Polyclinic and later transferred to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba for further care.

Suraj, who had gone into hiding after the incident, was arrested at Kasoa Zongo. During interrogation, he admitted to the shooting and acknowledged ownership of a pump-action gun used in the attack.
