Residents of the FanMilk enclave in Anyaa Sowutuom, Ga Central Municipality, have taken to the streets in a peaceful demonstration to express frustration over deteriorating infrastructure in the area.
The protest, which drew dozens of community members, aimed to highlight what residents describe as years of neglect affecting roads, markets, access to water, healthcare facilities, and schools.
Speaking to Adom News during the march, residents said the poor condition of basic amenities continues to disrupt daily life and economic activity in the community. Damaged roads make transportation difficult, markets lack proper structures, and social services such as health centres and schools remain inadequate for the growing population.
According to the demonstrators, the situation has escalated beyond inconvenience, now affecting safety, education, and livelihoods. They are calling on government and local authorities to intervene urgently.
As part of the protest, the group submitted a petition to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga Central, Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, urging the assembly to prioritise development projects in the area. The petition highlights poor drainage, limited potable water, inadequate healthcare facilities, and overcrowded classrooms, issues residents say worsen with every rainy season.
Residents stressed that the demonstration was peaceful and intended to push for practical solutions rather than confrontation. They expressed hope that the Municipal Assembly will respond positively and take concrete steps to improve infrastructure and living conditions in the FanMilk community.
