Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has proposed a new incentive system that would allow individual tax centres to retain a portion of the revenue they collect, aiming to motivate staff and improve working conditions.

The proposal was made during his visit to the Kinbu Tax Service Centre, part of his nationwide engagements with frontline revenue officers.

Dr. Forson explained that the initiative is designed to boost morale and strengthen the efficiency of Ghana’s revenue administration. He added that the retained funds “would be used by the specific tax centres to upgrade facilities and address the logistical and welfare needs of their staff.”

“A motivated and well-resourced workforce is essential to delivering the level of revenue mobilisation the country urgently requires,” he said.

Dr. Forson also commended the Kinbu team for their dedication and expressed confidence that, with the right motivation, Ghana’s revenue performance could see significant improvements.

Chairman of the GRA Board, Hon. Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, welcomed the Minister’s visit and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to retooling and reforming the authority while enhancing staff welfare nationwide.
