Black Stars finish Asia tour winless after 1-0 loss to South Korea

-

The Black Stars wrapped up their Asian tour without a victory, falling 1–0 to South Korea in their final international friendly on Tuesday.

The defeat follows last Friday’s narrow loss to Japan, leaving Otto Addo’s men winless in the November window.

Addo handed starts to Benjamin Asare, Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah, Kojo Pepprah Oppong, Prince Owusu, Christopher Bonsu Baah and Prince Kwabena Adu, hoping to spark a strong finish to the two-game series.

Ghana created half-chances through Kamaldeen Sulemana and Caleb Yirenkyi in the opening period, but neither player managed to test the Korean back line.

The first half ended goalless, but South Korea broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when Lee Tae-Seok headed in at the far post after a pinpoint delivery from PSG’s Lee Kang-In.

Ghana came close to levelling the score through substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante, whose powerful strike rattled the post. Asare later kept the Black Stars within reach by saving Hwang Hee-Chang’s penalty.

Two Ghana goals, finished by Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey, were correctly disallowed for offside.

Despite a late push, the Black Stars couldn’t turn the game around, closing their Asian friendlies with back-to-back defeats.

The team will reconvene in March for the next international window as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
