Toulouse vows full support to injured Francis Abu

-

Toulouse have expressed their full support for midfielder Francis Abu after the Ghanaian suffered a serious ankle injury during the Black Stars’ 2–0 defeat to Japan at the 2025 Kirin Cup.

Abu was stretchered off following a nasty challenge at Toyota Stadium, prompting a swift show of solidarity from the French club.

“The images are terrible, and we send you all our strength and thoughts, Francis! The whole club will stand by you to overcome this ordeal. We will support you every step of the way to ensure a speedy recovery, Black Stars,” Toulouse said in a statement after the match.

The injury is a major blow for both club and country, with Abu having quickly established himself as a key figure in Toulouse’s midfield and an emerging talent for Ghana.

While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, Abu is expected to be sidelined for a significant period.

The 23-year-old joined Toulouse in the summer after three seasons with Cercle Brugge. He has made eight Ligue 1 appearances this season and earned seven caps for Ghana since his international debut in 2024.
