It will be a tight game, but we will beat Japan – Otto Addo

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has acknowledged the challenge posed by Japan but expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ ability to secure victory.

The team is set to face the Samurai Blue at Toyota Stadium on Friday, November 14, in the Kirin Cup, with kick-off at 10:20 a.m.

Speaking ahead of the match, the 50-year-old coach recognised Japan’s quality while affirming that Ghana can prevail despite the absence of several key players.

“We are very, very pleased to be here. This is not our first time; we know the Japanese Federation has a very strong team,” Addo said.

“I think so far everything has gone well with the organisation, and we are looking forward to the match. It will be difficult for us, but I know we also have the strength to beat Japan. We started very well, and like I said, it’s going to be a tight match, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Friday’s clash forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer, after which the Black Stars will travel to Seoul to face South Korea on Tuesday, November 18.
