Obuasi Kwabenakwa shooting: Court remands suspect for two weeks

The Obuasi Magistrate Court has remanded 30-year-old Joseph Antwi, also known as Kofi Cole, into police custody for two weeks in connection with the recent shooting incident at Kwabenakwa in the Obuasi East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The incident, which occurred on October 15, 2025, left six people, including a baby boy under one year old, with gunshot wounds.

Mr Antwi was arrested by police at the Kwabenakwa barrier shortly after the shooting and was charged with causing harm and creating fear and panic in the community.

Presiding Judge, His Worship Kofi Owusu Sekyere, ordered that the suspect be remanded to assist further police investigations. He is expected to reappear before the court on November 4, 2025.

A nursing mother who sustained injuries alongside her baby spoke to Adom News after the court hearing, expressing gratitude to the police for the swift arrest and vowing never to forgive the suspect for his actions.
