It is going to be a wake-up call – Bashir Hayford on Heart of Lions’ defeat at GoldStars

-

Head coach of Heart of Lions, Bashir Hayford, has urged his players to remain focused following their first defeat of the season against Bibiani GoldStars.

The Kpando-based side’s unbeaten run came to an end on Monday at DUN’s Park, where they suffered a 3-1 loss to the hosts.

Reflecting on the result, the experienced tactician said, “Every Napoleon has got his Waterloo. We had not been beaten in five matches, and today, on somebody’s soil, they have beaten us – that is football.

“It is going to be a wake-up call because, after all, some people can also beat us.

“Some of the players are now getting swollen-headed. We are going back, and then we will prepare well for another six matches,” he added.

Heart of Lions have now slipped to fourth place on the league table and will be aiming to bounce back when they host Basake Holy Stars at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Friday, October 24.
