NPP pays glowing tribute to Apostle Kwadwo Safo ‘Kantanka’

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has paid glowing tribute to Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the renowned religious leader, inventor, and philanthropist, following his passing on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

In a statement signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong and released on Monday, the party described Apostle Safo’s death as a “profound blow” to Ghana, lauding his lifelong commitment to innovation, community service, and nation-building.

As founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Safo inspired generations through his work in religion, agriculture, and industry. He established the KOSA network of companies and the Kantanka Group, including Kantanka Automobile, a wholly Ghanaian-owned car manufacturer now regarded as one of Africa’s leading technology brands.

His practical innovations — ranging from locally built vehicles to farming tools — offered solutions to everyday challenges faced by farmers, entrepreneurs, and households across Ghana, sparking national pride in homegrown ingenuity.

The NPP also highlighted Apostle Safo’s close ties with the party, particularly through the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, where his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, served three terms as MP on the party’s ticket.

Party leaders described him as a “pillar of support” whose counsel and resources strengthened both community development and political initiatives.

“May the soul of our dearly departed find comfort in God’s bosom, and may the family he left behind, and indeed, all of us in the Party and beyond, find fortitude to bear this great loss. Damirifa Due!” the statement read.

The party further acknowledged Apostle Safo’s contributions to education and social welfare, stressing that his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a symbol of African ingenuity will continue to inspire young Ghanaians in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
