Farmers in Aboabo, located in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, have staged a protest against Rain Forest Builder, accusing the company of encroaching on their farmlands.
The farmers claim that the lands were allocated to them by the Bibiani Forestry Commission for both tree planting and food crop cultivation. They allege that the company has now taken over parts of these farmlands, threatening their livelihoods in the largely farming-dependent community.
During the demonstration, the farmers expressed deep frustration over the situation, warning that if not addressed, it could exacerbate poverty levels in the area.
The Chief of Aboabo, Nana Kofi Kobri II, has called on the President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Nana Yaw Gyebi II, the Municipal Chief Executive, the area’s Member of Parliament, and the Bibiani Forestry Commission to intervene and halt what he described as unlawful encroachment.
