
Suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, on Wednesday, laid a wreath at the Ceremonial Garden at the Jubilee House in honour of the victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash.
She later visited the Defence Ministry, where she signed the book of condolence to express her sympathies.

The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of eight people, including two ministers.

The deceased were Minister of Defence Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Mohammed Muniru, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Sarpong, Acting NADMO boss Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Although Dr Murtala and Alhaji Muniru were buried on Sunday, August 10, in accordance with Islamic rites, a state burial for all victims has been scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House.
