
President John Mahama on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, met with the families of three military officers who died in last Wednesday’s helicopter crash.
The solemn engagement took place at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, at Burma Camp, Accra.
At the gathering, the President extended heartfelt condolences and pledged the nation’s full support to the grieving families.
The three military personnel were Flying Officer Manaean Twum-Ampadu, Squadron Leader Peter Anala, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.



The crash also claimed the lives of six others, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Others who perished include NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate and Deputy NADMO Boss.
Dr. Murtala and Alhaji Muniru were buried on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in accordance with Islamic rites.
An inter-denominational state burial for all victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House.
President Mahama has also announced the creation of an educational fund to support the children of the victims.
