Forson Amankwah aims for Premier League promotion with Norwich City

Ghana midfielder Forson Amankwah has set his sights on helping Norwich City earn promotion to the Premier League in the upcoming season.

The 23-year-old joined the English Championship club last summer from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

Despite high hopes, Norwich finished 13th last season with 57 points, falling short of a return to the top flight.

Speaking to Flashscore, Amankwah emphasized the club’s strong ambition to secure promotion.

“The club wants to get promoted, so as a player, you also need that because the Premier League is the best league,” he said.

“It’s like the top league, and everybody’s watching the Premier League. So I’m prepared for that, and I hope we get the best of it.

“We hope for the best next season, and I hope we can get promoted. We will do everything and try our best to just get promoted,” he added.

Norwich kicked off their 2025/26 Championship campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Millwall at Carrow Road.

Amankwah and his teammates now turn their focus to the EFL Cup, facing Watford on Tuesday, before a league trip to Portsmouth.

The Ghana international will be keen to play a pivotal role as the Canaries chase their first win of the season.
