Two-day gridlock on Kintampo Highway after accident leaves commuters stranded [Watch]

A section of the Kintampo highway at Babatokuma has been blocked for more than 48 hours following a single-truck accident that occurred around 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The blockage has caused major gridlock, halting traffic between the southern and northern corridors and leaving commuters stranded. Many drivers have lamented the loss of perishable goods, while passengers are growing increasingly frustrated over the delay.

“We’ve been here for two days, and the situation keeps getting worse,” a driver told Adom News.

Another passenger described the ordeal as “extremely frustrating and unbearable.”

Kintampo Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Donkor, who visited the scene, said arrangements had been made with the military to deploy heavy-duty towing equipment. However, as of Tuesday morning, the machinery had yet to arrive, and the road remained impassable.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to restore the free flow of traffic as soon as possible.
