Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren says his side is bracing for a challenging encounter against Mali in their second Group C fixture at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Ghana will face Mali on Friday, July 11, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, aiming to bounce back from their opening-day 2-0 defeat to South Africa.

Speaking ahead of the crucial tie, Björkegren acknowledged the quality of the Malian side but expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and belief.

“We’re up against a strong team with some very good attacking players,” he said.
“It’s going to be a difficult and tricky match. But we’ve done our homework—we’ve spent a lot of time analysing their strengths and weaknesses.”

The Swedish tactician emphasized the importance of sticking to their game plan.

“At the end of the day, we believe in ourselves. The key is to approach the game with our identity and style of play. That’s what matters most,” he added.

Ghana must secure all three points against the Eagles to keep their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage alive.

Kick-off is scheduled for 16:00 GMT. The Black Queens will wrap up their Group C campaign against Tanzania in their final group match.
