Don’t you pay offertory in church? – Agradaa’s husband fumes over 15-year jail term [Watch]

Eric Oduro Asiamah, husband of Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, founder of Heaven Way Champion Ministries International Church, has expressed disappointment over her 15-year jail sentence.

He described the sentence as unfair and questioned whether church members do not pay offerings.

The Accra Circuit Court sentenced Agradaa on Thursday, July 3, 2025, after finding her guilty of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences.

Nana Agradaa was convicted of luring victims through a 2022 televised broadcast where she falsely claimed to possess spiritual powers to double money.

The presiding judge, Her Honour Evelyn Asamoah, ruled that Agradaa skillfully executed the crime.

Speaking to journalists after the ruling, Mr. Asiamah argued that the victims willingly gave the money and stressed that it is normal for churches to receive financial contributions.

“Don’t church members pay tithe and offering? There is no church that doesn’t accept money. These are some of the cons of doing God’s work. Physically, it’s difficult, but we look up to God,” he said.

Agradaa is expected to begin serving her sentence immediately, though reports indicate her lawyers plan to file an appeal.
