One dead after another building collapse in Cape Coast

-

One person has tragically died, and another is receiving treatment after a residential building collapsed on them at Ayidan Amissah Ekyir in the Cape Coast Metropolis of the Central Region.

The incident occurred at dawn on Tuesday, June 25, 2025, just days after a similar collapse on Saturday, June 21, claimed two lives and left three others injured.

An eyewitness, Ali Yakubu, told Adom News that part of a nearby storey building collapsed onto another structure, trapping two occupants under the rubble.

According to him, he rushed into the damaged building and used his bare hands to clear debris in an attempt to rescue the victims, as there were no tools available at the time.

The victims—a man and a woman identified as Ernestina Nduom—were rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, the woman was later confirmed dead.

The deceased’s granddaughter, Patience Baidoo, recounted how other occupants managed to escape and described the moment her brother and grandmother became trapped under the wreckage.
