2025 BECE: GNAT General Secretary warns Ahafo Teachers against exam malpractice

-

The General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Thomas Musah, has issued a stern warning to teachers in the Ahafo Region to avoid any form of examination malpractice during the upcoming 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Speaking at a teacher engagement forum in Goaso for educators from the Asunafo North and Asunafo South Districts, Musah stressed that any teacher caught participating in exam malpractice would face serious consequences, including the potential loss of their professional certificate or dismissal from service.

He expressed concern over the rising involvement of teachers in BECE malpractice, describing the trend as alarming.

Musah further noted that security agencies have intensified efforts to monitor and expose teachers who engage in such unethical practices.

GNAT’s Asunafo District Chairman, Peter Bonsu, also echoed the warning, urging teachers—especially those at the junior and senior high school levels—to distance themselves from malpractice. He cautioned that GNAT will not protect any member found guilty.

“Some teachers have already been prosecuted and punished for their actions. Let’s take this warning seriously and safeguard the integrity of the teaching profession,” he said.
