Two individuals who stole a pistol and ammunition belonging to an immigration officer in Walewale have each been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
The convicts, Mustapha Basit, 18, and Baba Rashid, 22, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to steal and stealing before Justice Francis Asobayeri at the Walewale Circuit Court on Thursday, May 22.
According to the police, arrangements are being made to transfer the two to begin their prison sentences.
The incident occurred on May 17 at around 12:00 p.m., when the convicts broke into the immigration officer’s room while he was away.
They made away with a Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, as well as two CZ rifle magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds.
