The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi North in the Ahafo Region, Hafiz Dauda, has expressed concern over the poor sanitation conditions in the district and pledged to take urgent steps to improve the situation for the well-being of residents.
Speaking during an inspection tour of refuse dumps in Kenyasi, Mr. Dauda told Adom News that he was shocked by the state of sanitation in the area, especially considering that the district has implemented the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiative for several years.
He revealed that many of the dumping sites lack refuse containers and that the district currently does not have vehicles available to collect and transport waste to designated disposal sites on a daily basis.
Mr. Dauda emphasized the urgent need for effective sanitation measures to prevent potential disease outbreaks, particularly in communities located near refuse dumps.
He assured residents of his commitment to ensuring a cleaner environment during his tenure and called on the public to be responsible and comply with sanitation regulations.
