The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has attributed its recent drug busts to the quality of leadership and its zeal to ensure things are done right in the country.
In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the Deputy Director-General, Alexander Twum Barimah, highlighted the improved oversight and strategic leadership.
“I can only say that now the country or the institution has quality leaders, who are actively working to ensure that the right things are done. This is a signal that there is proper leadership in the institution. Men who are ready to work,” he stated.
His comments follow the arrest of several individuals and the interception of suspected cocaine in parts of the country. The latest bust occurred at Swiss Port on Thursday, April 24, 2025, during which four Ghanaians were arrested.
NACOC officials seized 73 slabs of a concealed substance believed to be cocaine, weighing approximately 89.74 kilograms, bound for the Netherlands.
There have been mixed reactions to the surge in busts, amidst criticisms over the constant publicity.
