The Board of Trustees for the construction of the interdenominational National Cathedral is determined to build the temple of God with or without government support.
According to reports, many people have started contributing towards the project to complement government’s seed money.

Secretary to the Board of Trustees for the National Cathedral, Reverend Kusi Boateng revealed this in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Tuesday.
There was sporadic dissent when government served notice to construct a National Cathedral at an estimated cost of $100 million.
The issue has become murkier after it emerged government will spend GH¢9.2 million for the relocation of the passport office at Ridge to pave way for the construction of the National Cathedral.

Many civil society groups and the opposition National Democratic Congress insist the construction of the cathedral is a misplaced priority.
But, Rev. Boateng opined that the opposition against the construction of the temple of God is unfortunate.
He argued that churches in the country deserve a National Cathedral because of their tremendous contribution in society.

Rev. Boateng, who is also the Founder and General Overseer of Power Chapel World Wide, stressed that, the facility is to help unify the Christian community as a place of worship and promote the national conversation on the role of faith in building Ghana.
“The excitement in the atmosphere is huge; people have started contributing to the fund and we will still build the National Cathedral without government support,” he said.
