The Nakpanzoo D/A Primary School in the Savelugu Municipality of the Northern Region has been converted to a kitchen and housing facility for victims of a recent flood in the area.

Almost everyone in the community was affected by the flood which was caused by continued heavy downpours.

The heavy downpour also resulted in the death of a man while two others have been hospitalised due to their critical health conditions.

Some of the victims of the flood told Adom News that the school has become their home because the flood has taken over their houses.

This school has become our home since flood took over our houses; we cook and live all our lives here. Our farms have been submerged and we only rely on the few foodstuffs we had stored,” one victim said.

Meanwhile, Vice President Dr Bawumia, on a recent two-day visit to the Northern, Upper East and the Upper West Regions under the auspices of the Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO donated some relief items to the community.

The items include bags of rice, buckets, bags of maize, eating bowls and plates, mattresses among others.
