Three siblings, all boys, got drowned at Ahoto, a suburb of Atebubu Amantin in the Brong-Ahafo Region on Monday.

Michael, five, Solomon, four, and Joseph Ndoligma, drowned in a dugout during a downpour in the area.

Atebubu Amantin District Police Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Simon Agbemazi, who confirmed the story, said the accident occurred when the mother of the children was washing outside their house.

He said the boys saw their grandmother going to a nearby village, and they followed her, but retreated to play around the dugout, which contained water.

ASP Agbemazi said as to how the three boys got drowned was yet to be ascertained, adding that the boys were found dead in the pool when their mother was looking for them to bath them for school.

The crime officer said the bodies were deposited at the Atebubu Hospital mortuary, but were later handed over to the family for burial, adding that investigation into the matter was ongoing.
