Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey says Ghana’s players are mentally prepared for their crucial Group L clash against England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions will face the Three Lions in their second group game on Tuesday, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 GMT, as they seek to strengthen their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
Partey, who missed Ghana’s opening 1-0 victory over Panama at BMO Field in Toronto last week, is expected to return to the squad and provide a significant boost to head coach Carlos Queiroz’s side.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, the former Arsenal midfielder emphasised the importance of mental toughness and being ready to overcome every challenge that comes with facing one of the tournament favourites.
“Well, by training, I think everything is mental. You have to be ready for whatever,” the 33-year-old said.
“The minute that your body can go through, you just give your best, and that’s it,” Partey added.
The 33-year-old’s return is expected to add experience and stability to Ghana’s midfield as the Black Stars aim to build on their winning start to the tournament.
After the England fixture, Ghana will conclude their Group L campaign against Croatia on June 27, with hopes of securing a place in the next round of the competition.
