Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has urged fans to get behind the Black Stars as they look to bounce back from their opening defeat in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Carlos Queiroz’s side began their Group C campaign with a 2-0 loss to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on Thursday, as goals from Malick Yalcouyé and Franck Kessié secured victory for the hosts at the Stade de Bouaké.
Speaking to Agogo Sports Daily after the match, Thomas-Asante acknowledged the disappointment within the squad but insisted the players are determined to make amends against Gambia.
“Actually, we are all Ghanaians; we are fans as well as players. We want to win these games, so when we go to Gambia, we are going to put things right,” he said.
“We are at home, and we have got our people behind us, so we are going to give our all.”
The forward believes home support could prove crucial as Ghana seek to recover from their disappointing start to the qualifying campaign.
The defeat leaves the Black Stars without a point after their opening fixture, while Côte d’Ivoire sit top of Group C on three points.
Ghana will have the chance to respond quickly when they host Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 29 September, with Queiroz’s side chasing their first points of the campaign.
