The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for additional tickets to accommodate hundreds of Ghanaian supporters who have travelled to Bouaké for Thursday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire.
Around 500 fans who made the journey from Ghana to back the Black Stars have been left without access to the match after the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) announced that tickets for the Group C encounter at the Stade de la Paix had sold out.
The GFA received its official ticket allocation during Wednesday’s Match Coordination Meeting (MCM), but said the number was not enough to cater for the large contingent of Ghanaian supporters currently in the Ivorian city.
In a formal request to CAF, the association asked for an additional block of approximately 500 tickets to ensure the travelling fans can attend the game.
The issue has also been raised with the match commissioner, who has assured the GFA of his support in finding a solution.
“The GFA remains committed to ensuring that Ghanaian supporters who have made the trip to Bouaké are given the opportunity to cheer the Black Stars,” the association said.
The match marks Ghana’s opening fixture in the race to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, with Carlos Queiroz’s side looking to make a strong start after missing out on the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
Following the clash against the Elephants, the Black Stars will return home to face The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 27 September before ending the international window with a friendly against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.
Ghana are seeking a return to the continental showpiece after finishing bottom of their qualifying group and failing to reach the 2025 AFCON finals.
