The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has recognised two firefighters for their bravery and commitment during a flood rescue operation in the Sogakope enclaves of the Volta Region in July 2026.
The two officers, LFM Sene Famous of the Sogakope Fire Station and FM Yao Addo Kumi of the Adidome Fire Station, were commended for their efforts in rescuing and supporting residents affected by the floods.
A statement issued by the GNFS Public Relations Officer for the Volta Region noted that as part of the recognition, the officers received assorted items in appreciation of their dedication to protecting lives and property during the emergency.
The GNFS said the gesture was intended to highlight the courage and commitment of firefighters who routinely work under difficult and hazardous conditions to respond to emergencies and protect communities.
The Service said their actions during the flood demonstrated the critical role firefighters play in disaster response and community protection.
