Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has described the Black Stars as a “fantastic group” as they prepare to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The 73-year-old Portuguese, who guided Ghana to the 2026 World Cup and their first knockout-stage appearance since 2010, said the team’s unity and character strengthened during the tournament in North America.
Reflecting on that experience, Queiroz said the World Cup provided valuable insight into his players and helped build a strong national team culture.
“We worked intensively on the entire process we went through during the World Cup,” Queiroz told the Ghana FA website.
“It was an experience that gave us a deep understanding of the players, their qualities and their character.
“We have a fantastic group and a fantastic national-team culture.
“I am a very proud coach to be part of this group.”
Queiroz will now turn his attention to securing Ghana’s return to the AFCON after the Black Stars missed out on the previous edition.
They begin their Group C campaign with a demanding away trip to face Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on 24 September before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium three days later.
Ghana will then conclude the international window with a friendly against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.
The Black Stars have already opened camp in Accra ahead of the three fixtures.
