Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed strong confidence in Ghana’s national team, the Ghana national football team, as they prepare for the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana have advanced to the Round of 32 for the first time since 2010 and will face Colombia on Saturday, July 4, in Kansas City.

The four-time African champions finished third in Group L after a 1-0 victory over Panama, a disciplined goalless draw with England, and a defeat to Croatia.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Adams said the team arrived at the tournament with a clear winning mentality and should not fear any opponent in their path.

“My expectation is that we are winning our Round of 32 game against Colombia, and then we go on to face whoever is ready for us, whether it is Algeria or Switzerland, and also beat them and carry on. That’s why we are here—to win,” he said.

A victory over Colombia would set up a potential Round of 16 clash with either Algeria or Switzerland, with the Minister maintaining that the Black Stars are capable of meeting any challenge on their path through the tournament.

The squad is expected to relocate to Kansas City on Wednesday ahead of the weekend fixture.
