The provisional results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Candidates can now access their results online and begin calculating their provisional aggregates for tertiary admission applications.
To check your results, you will need a valid WASSCE Result Checker containing a serial number and PIN. A result checker can be purchased by dialing *713*3998# or by visiting buycheckercodes.com.gh.
After purchasing the checker, proceed to the official WAEC results portal at https://ghana.waecdirect.org/ and enter your Index Number, examination details, serial number, and PIN to access your results.
How Is the WASSCE Aggregate Calculated?
Once you have viewed your grades, you can calculate your provisional WASSCE aggregate following the guide below.
Step 1: Know Your Grade Points
Before you can add anything, you need to convert your letter grades (like A1 or C6) into numbers. The WASSCE grading system uses a standard scale:
Step 2: Choose Three Relevant Core Subjects
For many university programmes, the three core subjects usually include:
- English Language
- Core Mathematics
- Integrated Science or Social Studies, depending on the programme
Check the admission requirements of your preferred university to know which core subjects apply.
Step 3: Choose Three Relevant Elective Subjects
Select the three elective subjects required for the programme you want to study.
Do not simply choose your best three electives if they are not relevant to your intended course.
Step 4: Add the Six Grade Points
Add the points for your three relevant core subjects and three relevant elective subjects.
For example:
- English Language — B3 = 3
- Core Mathematics — B2 = 2
- Integrated Science — C4 = 4
- Elective 1 — B2 = 2
- Elective 2 — B3 = 3
- Elective 3 — C4 = 4
Your aggregate will be:
3 + 2 + 4 + 2 + 3 + 4 = Aggregate 18
Generally, the lower your aggregate, the better your overall score.
Check the Requirements of Your Preferred University
Your calculated aggregate should therefore be treated as a provisional estimate. Before submitting an application, check the official admission requirements of the university and programme you intend to pursue.
If your aggregate is higher than the cut-off for your first-choice programme, you may still have other options, including considering related programmes with different entry requirements or improving specific grades through a future WASSCE for Private Candidates examination.
