Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has admitted that Ghana face a difficult challenge against Cameroon but insists he has full confidence in his players ahead of their crucial Group D encounter.
Ghana will take on the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon on Sunday at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, with both teams heading into the fixture on the back of opening-day victories.
Speaking to the media on Saturday ahead of the game, the Swedish coach acknowledged Cameroon’s quality but believes facing a strong opponent can bring out the best in his team.
“It is going to be a tough game against Cameroon, but I know my team very well, and I believe in them,” Bjorkegren said.
“A difficult opponent usually means that we are a better Ghana team,” he added.
The match, scheduled for 17:00 GMT, presents Ghana with an opportunity to secure qualification to the quarterfinals with a victory.
The Black Queens are also targeting a strong finish at the tournament, as a place in the semifinals would guarantee qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
