The Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has held separate meetings with the French Ambassador to Ghana, Diarra Dime-Labille, and the Youth Climate Justice Fund initiative to explore collaboration on environmental protection and climate action.
The engagements, held on Monday, October 12, 2026, focused on addressing environmental challenges, strengthening international partnerships and increasing youth participation in efforts to promote sustainability.
The French Ambassador paid a courtesy call on the Minister to congratulate her on her appointment and discuss opportunities to deepen cooperation between Ghana and France in environmental protection.

Discussions centred on the restoration of Ghana’s oceans and coastline, plastic pollution, illegal small-scale mining, commonly known as galamsey, and biodiversity conservation.
The meeting also explored areas of mutual interest in protecting marine and coastal ecosystems, reducing pollution and promoting the sustainable management of Ghana’s natural resources.
The discussions underscored the importance of international cooperation in tackling environmental challenges and preserving the country’s natural resources for future generations.
In a separate engagement, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings met Joshua Amponsem, Co-Director of the Youth Climate Justice Fund initiative, and his team to discuss opportunities for collaboration on climate action and environmental sustainability.

The meeting focused on the role of young people in addressing environmental challenges and developing solutions to climate-related issues affecting their communities.
Both sides highlighted the need to create opportunities for young people to participate meaningfully in environmental initiatives and contribute to efforts to build a sustainable future.
Mr Amponsem and his team also invited the Minister to participate in their upcoming programmes, which seek to promote youth engagement and raise awareness of environmental and climate issues.

The two engagements form part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with diplomatic missions, civil society organisations and youth-focused initiatives to advance Ghana’s environmental protection and climate resilience priorities.
The Ministry says collaboration, knowledge-sharing and broader stakeholder participation remain important to tackling environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
