The Regional Director of the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) in the Oti Region, Michael Mampah, has urged beneficiaries and master craft persons to take the programme seriously, describing it as a practical tool to support the government’s efforts to reduce unemployment nationwide.

He stated that NAP is a key part of President John Mahama and the NDC’s Resetting Agenda, which focuses on job creation and skills development as sustainable solutions to rising youth unemployment.

The appeal came during an event in the Nkwanta North District, where 30 apprentices and six master craft persons received training kits to support their apprenticeship activities.

The beneficiaries, training under six master craft persons, were given knitting and industrial sewing machines, hairdressers’ dryers, welding shields, hair rollers, and other accessories to help kick-start their training.

Mampah explained that the kits are intended to enhance the quality of training, motivate participants, and equip them with the essential tools needed to learn effectively and achieve self-reliance.

He added that beneficiaries will undergo a validation process to eliminate fraudulent entries and ensure accountability, emphasizing that transparency is vital for the programme’s credibility and success.

Highlighting the importance of skills development, Mampah said practical skills empower youth, increase employability, and enable beneficiaries to create jobs in their communities.

Several master craft persons and apprentices who received the items expressed gratitude to the government, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.

They pledged to remain dedicated to their training and make the most of the opportunity to build sustainable livelihoods.
