The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has dismissed media reports alleging that about 300 of its staff across the country have gone 10 months without salaries, describing the claims as inaccurate.
In a statement signed by Suadique Musah, Director of Corporate Affairs, the Agency clarified that all verified employees on its official payroll have been paid consistently from February to September 2025.
The YEA explained that its Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale, who assumed office in February 2025, inherited an existing payroll that was approved by the Agency’s Board, and has since ensured prompt salary payments.
Management also confirmed conducting a staff audit earlier this year to validate legitimate employees and safeguard public funds.
According to the statement, staff who completed the audit or had their contracts renewed have been paid accordingly.
“It is therefore factually inaccurate for any group to allege that the CEO has failed to pay them for ten months when he has been in office for only eight months,” the statement read.
The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare and to creating sustainable employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth, assuring stakeholders of transparency and accountability in all operations.
