The Assembly Member for Wurumomso in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region, Ernest Karim, has expressed concern over what he describes as the government’s failure to address the development needs of the community.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Mr Karim said residents are becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of basic infrastructure and social amenities despite the community’s overwhelming support for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, Wurumomso, which he described as a stronghold of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has seen little development since the party assumed office.
He identified the lack of a proper drainage system as one of the community’s major challenges, saying residents endure flooding whenever heavy rains occur.
Mr Karim also lamented the absence of electricity in newly developed parts of the community, leaving many households without access to power.
He further criticised the government for failing to create employment opportunities for the youth, arguing that its campaign promise of providing jobs has yet to materialise.
The Assembly Member also pointed to the lack of a mechanised potable water system, saying residents continue to struggle to access safe drinking water while similar projects have been executed in neighbouring communities.
Mr Karim said the persistent lack of these basic amenities has left many residents disappointed, insisting the community has not received the level of development it deserves despite its overwhelming support for the ruling party.
He appealed to the government to prioritise Wurumomso’s development by investing in critical infrastructure, extending electricity to underserved areas, providing a mechanised water system, addressing flooding, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the youth.
