The Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF), in collaboration with the World Gold Council, has donated practical training equipment worth GH¢234,000 to the Gyedu Technical Institute in the Ahafo Region to enhance technical education.

The donated items include 15 gas cylinders, 20 double-burner gas stoves, 27 industrial sewing machines, a gas oven, a deep freezer, an embroidery sewing machine, a knitting machine, a block-making machine with two cutters, and a side-by-side refrigerator.

Speaking to Adom News, Joseph Danso, Director for Social Performance at Newmont Africa, explained that the gesture is aimed at addressing long-standing challenges the school has faced in accessing modern training tools.

He noted that the equipment will provide students with hands-on experience to better prepare them for the job market.

Vice Principal of the institute, Suale Abubakar, expressed his gratitude to NADeF and the World Gold Council.

He described the support as timely, adding that it will significantly boost the school’s practical teaching and learning experience.

He further noted that the school, which offers courses in catering, fashion, masonry, electricals, woodwork, welding, and plumbing, intends to improve its internally generated funds by using the new equipment to produce goods for the market.
