The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old woman, Mavis Nkrumah, for allegedly pouring acid on her ex-boyfriend during a confrontation at Abeka Fan Milk, a suburb of Accra.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on May 28, 2025, when Mavis unexpectedly approached her ex-lover, Gideon Frimpong, a 29-year-old taxi driver, and initiated a conversation about their breakup.
While driving, Gideon stopped briefly near Otamkye, and Mavis allegedly splashed acid on him after a heated exchange.
Gideon, who was severely injured, was rescued by bystanders and rushed to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The suspect fled the scene but was later arrested by police at a hideout in Nungua on June 2, 2025. She is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
The Greater Accra Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to law enforcement and urged citizens to report suspicious behavior to the nearest police station.
